CYCLONE SEEDERS
, Turf Type Tall Fescues
(Festuca arundinacea)
Turf Type Tall Fescues adap well to poor soils. A
bunch-type grass, it spreads by tillers. Often used
in areas where other grass type fail. Creates a
dense, slow growing, dark green turf under medium
to high maintenance conditions. Tolerates heavy
wear and heat well and is very drought tolerant.
Does require periodic overseeding to maintain its'
finer texture and upright growth habit. Between
10-14 days to germinate. Seeding rate of 5-8
pounds per 1,000 Sq. Ft.. Approximately 250,000
seeds per pound.
Perennial Ryegrass
(Lolium Perenne)
Fast growing grass type with a wide range of uses
from nurse grass and stabilization to permanent
turf. Also used in professional lawns and athletic
fields and golf courses. Excellent wear tolerance.
Bunch type grass that spreads by tillers. Easy to
manage in home turf and low maintenance sites.
Wide range of leaf texture and color. Tolerates low
mowing; tends to get stemmy if allowed to grow
long between cuts. Prefers full sun to partial
shade. Wide range pf disease resistance and
drought tolerance. Endophyte free varieties can be
used for forage. Quick to establish in 7-10 days.
Approximately 250,000 seeds per pound. Seed at
5-7 pounds per 1,000 Sq. Ft.
Kentucky Bluegrass
POA pratensis)
Spreads from rizomes (roots). Considerd the best
turfgrass for most uses wherever cool season
grasses are used. Very cold tolerant because of
natural dormancy during to, dry weather as well.
Easy to maintain a beautiful lawn with adequate
moisture and normal fertility levels. Excellent water
tolerance and some varieties will tolerate close
mowing. Very slow to germinate approximately
21-30 days. Seeding rate 1-3 pounds per 1,000 Sq.
Ft.. 1,200,000 seeds per pound.
Chewing Fescue
(Festuca ruba var. commutata)
Fine leaved grass with a non-creeping habit;
basically a bunch-type grass. Best adapted to
shady locations that are damp. Will do well in sunny
areas, with adequate mositure. Tolerates droughty,
infertile soils-goes dormant quickly but comes out
of stress very well. Mixes very well with Perennial
Ryegrass. Low maintenance requirements for
fertilization, water and mowing. tolerates a low
mowing height and mows cleanly. Approximately
500,000 seeds per pound.
Creeping Red Fescue
Festuca rubra)
Darker in color than Chewings varieties with a
fine texture. spreads slowly by rhizomes. Mixes
well with Kentucky Bluegrass varieties. Best
adapted to cooler, shady locations that are damp,
but will do well in full sun, with adequate
mostiure. Does not tolerate heat or drought very
well, but comes out of dormancy consistently.
tolerates cold temperatures. Grows well under
low maintenance applications; less mowing and
fertilization. Tolerates cold temperatures.
Tolerates infertile soils. Approximately 10-14
days to germinate. Seeding rate of 4-5 pounds per
Sq. Ft.
